Birthday Celebrations

Our Fire Fighter Stories

Hifo has recorded her story using Explain Everything.

The fire fighters have stuff on the fire truck. They have a crow bar and cones and they have a hose in the fire truck. They have ladders on the back of the truck. They help people if they crash or if they get stuck in the house. If there is a fire in your house get down, get low and get out fast to a safe meeting place. They wear gloves, coats, a helmet, gas mask and a tank bottle.

Wen we went to the fire fighters they said we can have a picture. we looked at the fire truck and we saw ladders and cones. they brought a smoke alarm and it was loud. You have to get down, get low, get out fast.
We saw a hose. It was cool. We got fire fighters stickers. I love fire fighters.

First the fire fighters wear gloves, a helmet and coat. We do not touch a fire because it is going to hurt people.
The fire fighters are fast.
They help people to get better because they are good people.

A Visit From Fire Fighters

Today our Panmure Fire Fighters came to school to teach us about fire safety and what fire fighters do to help the community.
We have been doing lots of learning about fire wise so it was a great opportunity to ask the fire fighters questions.

What is your whanau's safety plan in the event of a fire?
What are the escape routes?
Will your whanau meet at the mail box? Where would be a good meeting place?

Remember... if there is a fire... get down, get out and stay out!

Welcome To Medical School

Our topic this week is jobs.

To learn about jobs and how to do them we have been going to Tamaki University.
Today we went to Medical School to learn how to be doctors.

We learned the names of our bones and found out why bones are important.

We made two bodies out of play dough, one with bones (straws) and one without. The one with bones was much stronger and could sit up. The one without bones was floppy and couldn't sit up.

Making Kites To Celebrate Matariki

We have been celebrating Matariki with Te Puna Wairua.
Here is a movie showing the process of kite making. We had to problem solve, work collaboratively and think about what we knew about kites and other things that fly.
