Challenge Tuesday; Room 1 and Room 2 making masks

 

Our challenge for Challenge Tuesday was to create a mask. It had to cover our mouth and nose. Masks protect us from getting Covid. We had so much fun wearing our masks to our Google Meet. Can you guys who everyone is?

Here is the story we write together about making masks.

Reading and Maths Games Learning With Mum

Alayna and Ana's mum made up some games for them to play. They put words their mum wrote in alphabetical order. And them Mum wrote down words that they had to read such as dog and sleep.

For maths they had to order numbers and match them with the written word.

The girls played the game with us this morning at our Google Meet. We loved it. So cool to see you guys using Stretchy Snake to stretch out the sounds and Chunky Monkey to break up the longer words into chunks of sounds.

Celebrating Cook Island Language Week

This week we have been celebrating Cook Island language and culture.

This is us performing at our Cook Island Assembly today.

We went top the hall to dance. I danced with my friends.

I like to play with my friends and with the kite.

We flew a kite. The kite flew up.

At school we've been learning about kites. I was in Latu's team. Then we flew our kites. It looks like it was cold and it was blowing my hair.

Today we were given some old telephones to play with. We had conversations with each other using the telephones. We asked each other questions and listened to the answers. This activity helps with developing our oral language. 

Making A Go-Cart With Mr Gormly

 

How To Make A Go-Cart

Yesterday we made a go cart. Miss Gormly’s dad came to help us to make the go-cart.

First we took the tools out of the box. We had a wrench, a hammer, strew driver, pliers, wheels and axles.

Then we got a seat. We got the wood. Mr Gormly got the drill and made 6 holes. 

Then we put the screws in. We got another seat. We put the seats together. We got more wood. Then we drilled a hole. We screwed it in. We put the wheels in, washers in, then we put the strings on. 

I felt happy because we made the go-cart.

How To Make A Go-Cart

First we met Mr Gormly with the tool box. We put it on the table and then we pulled out all the tools. Then we were learning from Mr Gormly what tools we can use for the go-cart. 

Next we got matching pieces of wood and got a flat piece then we drilled some holes so we could screw it together.  The flat piece is called the base.

Then we did the same thing to the back.

Then we got the axles and wheels. We put the wheel on, then the axles. Then we put the wheel after the washer. Then after the washer we put on the split pin and twisted it.

We are learning how to make a go-cart. We got a screwdriver, got some screws and we got the base. 

First we took turns and everyone was happy to help Mr Gormly. It was fun.

Then we got the base, then drilled some holes on the base. Then we all screwed the base to make it. It moved and turned. 

First we put the wheels on the axle. Then he did a bit himself. 

It was done.

We tried it out. Everyone was happy.
